1. Choose a nice picture of a car, I choosed my own car, a Peugeot 206 RC.
| |
2. Select the area that you want to change. By using the different selection tools you can precise your selection. Start with the magnetic lasso tool to get the outer contur. Then use Ctrl (add) or Alt (subtract) to modify yor selection. By holding down Alt-key when selecting an eliptical marquee you will subtract current selection. Use this to select smooth corners. This is the boring part, and will take some time if you are not experienced.
3. The car will look something like this when you are finished with the selecting part. Now the fun will begin!
| |
4. Create a new layer and use the Paint bucket tool to fill the selection with a color (This is not nessecerly the color that you will end up with)
| |
5. The car doesn't look very nice now, but here comes the magic. Choose the blending mode Color. Voila! This blending mode will keep the shadows from the underlying layer.
| |
6. Your car should now look something like this.
| |
7. Now... lets play around a little bit. Use the Hue/Saturation tool to change the color of your car. Alter the Colorize checkbox to get different effects (in Hue/Saturation dialog window) This car would probably get some girls attention =)

8.Here I added some checker patterns and twirled them, then I faded them out in the front of the car.
